The Leadership Qualities behind Strong Teams
The most important quality is adaptability. In hospitality, things change quickly. Staffing needs, business demands and employee expectations are constantly evolving. HR leaders have to be able to pivot while remaining consistent and fair. I also believe trust and accountability go hand in hand. People want leaders who communicate openly, make decisions with integrity and are willing to support their teams through challenges. When employees know they are valued and leaders are invested in their success, they become more resilient as a team.
Why Leadership Begins with Being Present
One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned is that being present matters. Whether you are opening a new location, navigating employee relations or hiring hundreds of team members, you cannot effectively support people from behind a desk. Some of the best conversations and solutions happen by being in the restaurants, listening to managers and understanding what employees are experiencing firsthand. That visibility builds credibility and allows HR to become a true business partner instead of just a department people call when something goes wrong.
